Gaddafi captured and wounded in both legs

(Reuters) - Deposed Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was captured and wounded in both legs near his hometown of Sirte at dawn on Thursday, National Transitional Council official Abdel Majid said.

Majid reported the capture after Libyan interim government fighters took the town on Thursday, extinguishing the last significant resistance by forces loyal to the former leader and ending a two-month siege.

"He's captured. He's wounded in both legs ... He's been taken away by ambulance," the senior NTC military official told Reuters by telephone.

Gaddafi was trying to flee in a convoy which NATO warplanes attacked, Majid said. The head of Gaddafi's armed forces Abu Bakr Younus Jabr had been killed during the capture of the Libyan ex-leader, he added.

Majid said NATO warplanes struck the convoy and hit four cars as it headed west. Ahmed Ibrahim, a cousin and adviser of Gaddafi, was also captured.

In the capital Tripoli, sounds of gun shots were heard and people cheered in the street: "God is Great, God is Great, Gaddafi has been captured."

Senior NTC military official now claims Colonel Gaddafi dies of wounds suffered in capture near Sirte. Earlier NTC said Gaddafi has been captured and wounded in both legs, quoting an NTC official.
The NTC says it will provide confirmation of Gaddafi's capture within hours.
But according to Reuters, Gaddafi was wounded and captured near Sirte upon trying to flee in a convoy which was attacked by NATO. NATO official says the Alliance is checking reports of Gadhafi's capture.
Holland’s prime minister however confirms Gaddafi’s detain.

Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev has commented on the alleged capture of the former Libyan leader, saying that “Libyan people are to decide his fate.”
“We expect that there will be peace in Libya, and those who govern the state, will agree on the system of government,” Medvedev added.
The news come shortly after tne NTC forces took control over Gaddafi's home town of Sirte.

Once they start asking for 1 dollar more, The sweat shop will move to the next country and P.s Millions of people in India and China has yet to be elevated from poverty by working in sweat-shops, many are still struggling to make ends meet + the damages to the environment is vast when this shops open up.

Got to agree with you on this... The Western Powers are only eyeing Libya's oilfields... They got no interest at all to take care of the Libyan people.. There'll be anarchy... Civil war will rage on between the Pro Gaddafi forces and the Rebels.. What Nato goin to do about it except to just watch the Libyans lynching each other while their Political Masters back in London, Washington continue to plunder the Libyan oilfields.. Libya will be just like Iraq and Afghanistan... Arab countries who are uneasy with Gaddafi in the past will now rest easy too...

Understand that under Gaddafi, Libya achieved the highest GDP per cap, the highest indices in education, health standards and human development in Africa. Legend has it that Gaddafi ensured that every married couple us given a house to live in and he remained the last to move into a house. In fact on his travels, he preferred to stay in a tent of his own he brought along with him.
