The Straits Times has gone on a propaganda overdrive to salvage the battered image of controversial PAP newbie MP Tin Pei Ling with a most nauseating article on the frontpage of its online version ‘Breaking News’ today about her views on the DBSS flats.
It is so desperate that it even put a link at the bottom to direct readers to visit Ms Tin’s Facebook.
Ms Tin did not provide any useful input on the DBSS saga other than expressing her ’sympathies’ with Singaporeans who were ’stunned’ by the exorbitant prices of the latest DBSS launch at Centrale 8:
‘The recent high profile sale of DBSS flats at Centrale 8 stunned many Singaporeans, including myself. Questions were raised by many members of the public. Some asked why HDB flats built on HDB lands and eventually to be managed by the Town Councils (i.e. like normal HDB flats) should be priced by private developers. I understand and sympathise with these views.’
She then floated a mystifying suggestion to HDB to take back the ‘right’ to price DBSS flats:
‘As part of MND’s overall review of housing policies, perhaps it should either let HDB take back the right to price DBSS units, or include a clause to compel price negotiations between HDB and the private developers.’
It is not known if the comment was posted by Ms Tin or her elusive Facebook administrator ‘Denise He.’
Nearly two months have passed and there are still NO UPDATES from the Singapore police on Ms Tin’s POLICE CASE in which she was alleged to flout the election laws on ‘Cooling-off’ day, a SEIZABLE offence under the law.
It is a national shame that the Straits Times chose to give FREE publicity to a MP suspected of breaking the law instead of holding her accountable for it and somemore the new election rules were introduced none other than Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong himself.
What moral authority does Ms Tin have to remain as a MP when she is still under police investigation for a serious crime which showed contempt for our nation’s electoral process?
Ms Tin should not think that she will be let off the hook so long the police continue to ‘act blur’ and refuse to conclude its investigations.
TRE will continue to keep harping on her POLICE CASE again, again and again till the next general election and let’s see how many votes she will help the PAP lose by then.
