[FUCK PAP!] Progress Singapore Party disappointed at the SPF and AGC for not releasing a full report on the outcome of the harassment investigations!

PSP Statement on the Harassment Incident at Bukit Gombak

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) have telephoned the four PSP members and volunteers, whom they had interviewed regarding the harassment incident at Goodview Gardens on 4 January 2025, and informed them that no charges will be filed in relation to this case.

These include the allegations made by PAP officeholders that PSP members and volunteers had slapped, manhandled, and insulted their volunteers, and our PSP volunteer’s allegations that she was harassed and intimidated by PAP volunteers.

This concludes an eight-month investigation, a period which included the General Election.
They were also told that the SPF and the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) will not be making a public statement on the outcome of the investigation or their reasons for the decision.

We are disappointed that neither the SPF nor the AGC have chosen to release a full report on the outcome of Police investigations.
Before Police investigations were concluded, in a Facebook post on 8 January 2025, Senior Minister of State Low Yen Ling (“SMS Low”) claimed that “it is clear that PSP has twisted the truth and has given an untrue picture of what happened”. On 9 January 2025, Minister K Shanmugam also shared on Facebook a video purportedly by a PAP volunteer, with a comment “PSP conduct.”

While we accept the conclusions made by the SPF and the AGC and thank them for their efforts, a full report by the SPF, one of the most trusted institutions in Singapore, would have allowed “the whole truth to become public”, so that “the public can know what actually happened”, as SMS Low said in her Facebook post on 8 January 2025. Closing the case without providing a public report leaves many unanswered questions, which include:-

- Whether PSP volunteers had engaged in physical violence; and
- Whether PAP volunteers had engaged in harassing and/or intimidating behaviour.

A cloud is left hanging over all of the individuals involved if such questions are not fully dealt with. Unnecessary doubts are also cast on their reputations. It would be disappointing if this incident causes a chilling effect on Singaporeans who want to step forward and serve Singapore by volunteering for the Opposition.

Harassment has no place in politics, and we hope all parties will ensure such incidents do not happen again. There is no room for political intimidation in Singapore.

The contest of ideas and political perspectives should always be carried out with mutual respect.

The PSP does not plan to pursue this matter further, as we must now focus on issues of far greater importance to Singaporeans, and navigate a more fragmented and changed world together.

Finally, we want to thank all our volunteers, who are dedicated to building a better nation. We stand by them and will continue to support any Singaporean who volunteers with us.

PSP is the personality cult party of one Dr Tan Cheng Bock. Although there are his famous disagreements with Old Man, at end of day, they made up so TCB is at heart a PAP man. No surprise what he thinks on many issues. His near win of the presidency in 2012 went to his head!
