Fuck Harley-Davidson

Frens, not surprised that we should be talking about "sound" because that is what Harley prides itself on. In this, I do not regard it as a well made machine. A modern day machine should be as quiet as possible, probably just a purring sound. With current technology, anyone who manufactures anything that makes a thumping noise ought to be ashamed of their creation. That's where bikes like Honda's Gold Wing and BMWs excel. But sound is exactly where H-D likes to be unique. It is the image of a "wild one" and the bad-boy image it creates. I suppose it has created a market for itself. Anyways, my idea of a nice bike is something light and sleek, not big, heavy and brutish. My favourite ride would be a light-middleweight café racer and not a boulevard basher beast.

Cheers!

Can china promote say a harley version of their bike if their bikes make sounds.

Bro. Noted. I guess its the branding harley made since the 60s.

Bro. Have you ridden their K series? Any difference between R and K series? Both are sport tourer right?

I yet to own a K series.. But having rode a friend's 2006 K1200 before ( exchanged our bikes on a road trip to Malacca ), I personally feel that K series is much more better if you want a smoother effortless ride..

Both series have their different ' characters'.. R series have twin cylinders but K series have 3 and 4 cylinder liquid cooled engines.. Frankly speaking I bought the R serie model out of rashness and impatience..

Should have did more homework before buying but then again I didn't regret buying it as it gave me lots of personal fun during my 4 years of owning the bike..

Never like Harley. Damn noise pollution and fuel sucker like car.
I prefer Honda and BMW.

Thanks bro. I am sure it did give you much pleasure. LOL. BMW now has a 1600cc K series. Power man!!

Motorcyclists tend to fraternize more with one another. Bikes are the common denominator and they have something in common to talk and share about. Race and ethnicity falls below the subject of their bikes.

Cheers!

..... Can see multi racial big Bikers line up there.. Bikers United!!!

I very much doubt so. Even the Japanese makes have a hard time in the market where American Iron dominates. In the area of marketing the Yanks have it. The American Eagle, the symbol of Freedom and what not are hard to beat. No other brand in the world do you have followers tattooing the logo to their skin. Japanese V-twin bikes (known as "metrics") match and even surpass their western competition in almost every area of engineering and technology. But the Yanks hold the lion's share of the market. China shouldn't even try. It will be a terrible and costly mistake, in both face and finance.

Cheers!

Wah Zeddy, I have to say you must be pretty wealthy. You've ridden very expensive motorcycles. I never imagined climbing aboard such machinery. Have you ever saddled a Moto-Guzzi? I heard there is a dealership in Sg. Never seen their brand on the road before though. Apart from the cyliner configuration, their design and the BMW's boxer design aren't really much different.

Cheers!

Agro, that BMW was my only expensive bike lah.. Bought it thanks to the generous bonus given by company then.. Before that used to own Yamaha R1 2004 model.. Sold off that bike some time back for a loss..

If Bros here could recall, I made a thread last year about this ex friend of mine whom I co opted as the 2nd owner / rider of my BMW bike.. He didn't pay all his HDB fines and I as the 1st owner had to pay his fines since all HDB saman letters were directed to me since I was the main owner.. After paying off all his fines, I had to chase after him to recoup back my money which he duly paid up..

So I'm now bike less depending on the PAP's public transport to get around the island when I'm back.. I yet to ride on a Moto Guzzi but I believed their showroom is somewhere at Macpherson..

A friend told me he ever saw a chap riding a Moto Guzzi Griso at ECP few months back.. One of those rare moments to see a Moto Guzzi bike on a Spore road..
