This CCB forgot to mention that the real culprit for high costs are the Papayas' insatiable greed and CCB like himself/herself is beneficiary cos companies need to offset high rentals by hiring FTrash!

The company has 500+employees here, of these 150 are staffs (technical staff eg technician, engineer and managers) and 350 more low skilled operators. The technical staffs comprises of about 50 PRs and all managers are Singaporean. I do not have the exact number for foreign operators but i estimate it should be around 70% out of the 350. Just do a calculations we can see there are more than 200 mostly higher pay Singaporean here in the company where i work as engineer.
The company just like many others MNCs has faced tremendous cost pressures over the years. However there are several cost cutting measures the company has taken and it is so far effective to keep the company operation remain viable in sgp without need to lowering pay to local staffs/workers.
1. Hiring foreign workers (PRs and work permit holders) where their basic salaries are about 50-70% of the locals.
2. Set up subsidiaries at surrounding countries such like Indonesia and Vietnam with the aim to produce goods at lower cost.
From here you can see that if you do not allow foreigners to work here, can the company remain operations here? No. They will close or down size the operations here, imagine if this happens how many fellow Singaporeans will lost they jobs?
Why not? Just bear in mind that they have already several subsidiaries around the cheaper countries that can produced similar product with way lower cost then here. You might argue these low cost countries does not have enough quality engineers, let me tell you the truth, in Europe they have plenty of experience engineers and managers in the waiting lists, one just need to offer them expatriate package to come over they can anytime take over the jobs currently holding by SPRs and Singaporeans.
Therefore from my personal analysis, the relationship between Singaporean and SPRs/foreigners are more like symbiosis relation, both needs each others to survive. Therefore, i hope Singaporean can now see SPRs not a threats that only come here to enjoy the best, we do not wish your recognitions but at least you must understand and agree we are not here to rob away your job opportunities. Thank you
