In The Straits Times of 1 Feb 2013, there is an article about a success story of a President's cum Colombo Plan scholar. Of particular interest is the following line:
Midway, he took up Canadian citizenship after it became too onerous to renew his exit permit yearly.

What our state-controlled media did not report is that LEEgime has given Hsieh Tsun-Yan permanent residency. In effect, Hsieh gave up his SG citizenship for a Canadian one, then returned to Sinkieland as a permanent resident.
