Believe it or not - Singaporeans have been found to be the happiest students in the classroom, according to a report from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) triennial international survey that compared test scores from 65 countries.
Local students are apparently happier than students who live in other countries such as Taiwan and Switzerland as the city-state ranked no. 1 in the survey. According to the OECD survey, over 80 per cent of Singapore students felt happy in school.
The happiness index was calculated based on the percentage of students who agreed or disagreed with the statement "I feel happy at school".
Not only that. Singaporean students are a high-scoring bunch too, according to survey findings. Singaporean students fared well with the tests coming in second, pipped by Asian powerhouse, China.
China beat Singapore in all three categories scoring, 613 for Maths, 570 for reading and 580 for Science, while Singapore students scored 573, 545 and 555 respectively in their tests. The test scores rankings were based on an aggregate of the students' math, reading, and science scores.
According to Buzzfeed, when the happiness index and test score ranks were combined, Singapore came in tops with Taiwan in second place, and Switzerland and Hong Kong tied for third, but China dipped to fifth spot.
Meanwhile, South Korea, which is known for its packed tuition centres, seems to have a society of unhappy students. Even though they finished 5th in their tests, the high stress levels and competitive nature of the education system had them finishing at the bottom of the lot in happiness test.
While Indonesia topped the chart for world's happiest students, our neighbours did not fair too well with test scores so the country ended up second from the bottom.

[h=1]Singapore has unhappiest employees in Asia Pacific: International HR report[/h][h=2][/h]
By Hoe Pei Shan

Employees in Singapore are the unhappiest in the Asia Pacific region, a new report has found.
Some 23 per cent surveyed here reported feeling unmotivated in their jobs and that their skills are not being used effectively.
International recruitment and human resource services provider Randstad also discovered that 64 per cent plan to leave their current job in the next 12 months.
The results, recorded in the 2013/2014 Randstad World of Work Report, put Singapore at the top of the "unhappiest" rankings.

The trick is after you graduate, be self employed, then you will be forever happy.

The young are vulnerable to being brainwashed into believing that Spore is a great place. However once they start working reality sets in.

The trick is the question.. e.g. "are you happy in school?"

Of course singaporean students are. Can catch up with friends, have fun during recess, etc..
After school gotta go tuition, extra homework, etc.. where got happy right??

Students of other countries got better lifestyles after school

As impressionable kids, you are prone to buying the hype about Singapore, and are enthralled about fantasies of a bright future ahead. Just get good grades and you are made for life, so goes the narrative.

However, once you reach adulthood and start working, you quickly discover that the whole thing is a sham and a fraud. Amidst the daily grind, even some of the more materially successful ones ponder if they should be doing something more worthy with their lives.
