Fresh water fish or Sea water fish? whats your fav?

I remembered going for an offshore job near Batam 6 years back... The crew in my working vessel who were Thai nationals, caught this fat puffer fish with their hand held fishing reel.. That night they cleaned the puffer fish thoroughly............... And funny enough nothing happens to them after eating the fish..
Not all puffer fish can eat leh......

Song fish is fresh water fish right?:confused:

Steamed white tilapia with fermented soya bean paste over black tilapia anytime. Thought carp very bony fish?

Unfortunately, we didn't catch any patin but landed with maybe 10 or so tilapias, each between 500 to 700gm and another 6 good sized carps, maybe 2 kgs. I am not such a big fan of carps, too much Y-shaped bones which makes them a hassle to eat although I like the steamed carp heads at Sek Wai Sin along Geylang Rd.

Yah, Alamakingbro! U shld try it n after tat u can take a stroll at keong sik street...hahaha! Actually, nothing to see nowadays...
Too many stalls selling the head at Chinatown hawker centre, i dun find it nice at all, steamed with black beans...... I rather they cook curry with it :D

It is nice, provided you dun mind the muddy taste and the bones, song fish tail is also ideal for steaming actually :)

song fish + curry tak match...the curry taste cover the song fish taste..u wasting the fine qualities of song fish.

song fish must be steamed...with bean paste or not is up to personal preference.

Tetrodotoxin comes from the innards of the pufferfish. It's a delicacy in Japan though, the Fugu sashimi is prepared by a certified chef as wat I know!

Oh, I stick to snapper or grouper then...thks Amoeba!

Actually Song fish head is quite cheap, half a head is around $2.50 to $3, because it's not wild?

I watched on TV program. Fugu chef has something like a doctorate degree equivalent. Fugu is basically poisonous. Anyhow prepare and anyhow eat, you'll die. The chef preparing it is like a surgeon.
