Four suspects arrested for loansharking activities

SINGAPORE : Police have arrested four suspects, aged between 15 and 26, for involvement in loansharking activities in two separate incidents.
In the first case on Wednesday, officers were conducting anti-crime checks near Clementi Central when they saw two men behaving suspiciously.
The officers spotted red paint on the clothing of one of the suspects.
The suspects were arrested for loansharking activities.
They are believed to be responsible for several cases of loanshark harassment in Choa Chu Kang, Wellington Circle, Ang Mo Kio and other areas.
Both suspects will be charged in court on Friday.
In the second case, officers conducted a check on two suspects near Clementi Ave 2 early Thursday.
They were found to be in possession of a stack of name cards believed to be used to advertise loans on behalf of a loanshark.
First-time offenders found guilty of assisting in loansharking activities may be fined not less than S$30,000, may be jailed for up to four years and also caned.
