Hospital's ex-deputy director charged with corruption

accuse.jpg

As the deputy director of projects and development at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) in February 2009, Peh Chew Seng allegedly asked a contractor for a bribe. No money changed hands, but the 48-year-old was charged on Tuesday.

Court documents state that Peh had asked for an unspecified amount from Mr Phua Boon Kin, the executive director of PBT Engineering. The request is said to be through Mr Sim Keok Soon, one of the firm's employees.

In return, Peh is alleged to have offered to help PBT win the contract for the construction of a temporary office for the hospital next to TTSH's main building.

Police bail of $5,000 was increased to a court bail of $10,000 after Peh's lawyer informed the court that his client would be going to Taiwan for holidays next week. He is now working as a manager with SMRT.

Give that poor man a break
Anyone can make any allegation against any civil servant or for that matter any other person. The person making such a report may have motives that is known only to him or her. Just like a maid making malicious complaint against her employer for reasons best know to her.
Let the CPIB get to the bottom of the case and The Whole truth will finally come up.
Let that poor man be employed. He may have his own immediate family or aged parents to support.
Don't deny him to "chari-makan". Infact we should thank his new employers.
Many a criminals have been given jobs and many of them are doing good.
Give that man a chance. Give him your support.

hi there

1. hahaha!
2. sharing talent after all.
3. smrt hr has not enough homework on his job application.

I am puzzled how SMRT would want to employ a person who is under CPIB investigation. Most of these govt related entities would 'siam' anyone involved in CPIB probe. More so when released on bail.

Even from DD to Manager, which is like several demotions (DD, Snr AD, AD, Snr Manager), I suspect someone assisted him in his job search.

Depends on his job as Manager lah. Maybe he was employed to catch other people on the take?
It takes a thief to catch another thief.
