Former security guard jailed for committing mischief

SINGAPORE: A former security guard who wanted to teach his ex-colleague a lesson after an argument, was sentenced to eight weeks' jail, disqualified from driving for three years and fined S$1,000 on Wednesday.
Ayathan Kuninankandy Sunil Kumar, 40, had admitted to committing mischief by cutting the brake hose of Mr Gabriel Baldwin's motorcycle on April 9 this year at about 4.36am.
The cameras at Nassim Park Residence, where 35-year-old Mr Baldwin worked, captured Ayathan's act.
Mr Baldwin discovered the tampered brakes after his shift ended and made a police report.
Besides this, Ayathan also admitted to one count of speeding on July 17 this year close to 8.30am, along Lornie Road.
Court documents stated he had ridden a motorcycle when he was disqualified from driving for a year. He was disqualified from driving from January 18, 2012 to January 1, 2013.
To avoid detection by authorities, Ayathan would submit his elder brother's particulars whenever he received summons for speeding.
For committing mischief, he could have been jailed up to a year and fined.
The maximum penalty for driving without a licence is a three-year jail term and a fine of S$10,000.
For furnishing misleading information to the authorities, he could have been jailed up to six months and fined up to S$1,000.
