A leftie reservist tried shooting right, at a rifle range and found his shots ended in the next-guy's target.
You mean AR-15? There is no M-15. The M-16 is the military version of the AR-15, which was a hunting rifle initially.
The AR-15s used in the SAF in the late 60s till mid 70s were bought from the US, most of which were Vietnam surpluses, as the US troops were withdrawing from Vietnam.
The M-16 was designed for military use by Eugene Stoner. FYI the 5.56 calibre is too small for a hunting rifle unless you are using it against varmints i.e. squirels, racoons, coyotes,... At that time military rifles used the more powerful 7.62mm round, so the M16 broke new ground. The 5.56 round was considered by many at that time to be under poweredThat's why the military establishment was initially against the M16/5.56.
It was well known that CIS made the M16 rifles i.e. not a secret.
I don't know if Spore ever used vietnam surplus M16'sThe M16 that I used during NS was made in Spore. I doubt that Spore ever used US made M16's because the one's made in Spore were cheaper

I remember seeing the M16 used by the NZ soldiers & it was the newer version of the M16's, the ones with a bolt assist. The M16 that I used were the older model, without the bolt assist.
I think the Spore armed forces were using the FN rifle before the transitioned to the M16. You'll have to ask an older uncle about that.![]()
When I entered NS in April 1975, (I was in an Infantry Battalion) we were using the AR-15 until when I almost ROD (not ORD), when it was changed to the M-16. My time no FN rifles already, except the GPMG and the sniper rifle.

SAR 21 is truly a great rifle, kudos to ST.
The worst weapon made by the Chartered Insustries of S'pore was the Ultimax 2000.
That rifle rusts like a tin can in the field. Used it once for my reservist training, next year did not see the weapon again, the trainers said it was withdrawn. Heard they were sold to Myanmar for a song. Like a clearance sale.
Notice that anywhere the Ultimax shows up on the battlefield, it ends wars.
Croatia - the took over occupied lands from Serbia quickly n decisively ending the civil war.
Acheh - the civil war ended soon after TNI adopted Ultimax to juice up their fire power.
Sri Lanka - tamil Tigers wiped out soon after adoption of Ultimax.
Philippines - war in Mindanao coming to an end after decades of war.

All SAF's AR-15 has the original COLT markings stamped on the receiver; probably COLT surplus but not necessary from Vietnam stockpile. ......
