I get your point, but I see a flag as nothing more than a symbol, and I leave the symbols for the symbol-minded.
Ergo, if I see someone burning a Singapore flag, there will not be an ounce of patriotic indignation, nor will I inform the police etc. I have better things to do.
Simply put, I am not a very patriotic person. In fact, I find all the ritualistic outpouring of love for a non-living entity (country) on every August 9th to be very creepy.
