Are the foreign workers benefitting from the CDC's surplus? Killing 2 birds with 1 stone is the way to go. 1 is the Dodo.

SINGAPORE: Migrant workers celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival with the Migrant Workers' Centre (MWC) on Sunday evening.

MWC is an initiative by the labour movement NTUC and the Singapore National Employers Federation.

The event was aimed at helping foreign workers integrate into Singapore society and it was the first such event targeted solely at Chinese migrant workers.

Organisers expected about a thousand people but only some 200 turned up, mostly by Chinese migrant workers, with some Bangladeshi and Indian workers as well as Singaporeans.

Guest-of-honour Yeo Guat Kwang is also chairman of MWC.

He noted that the centre has supported more than 2,000 workers since it was set up in April 2009 in areas such as emergency housing and employment disputes.

However, Mr Yeo said there are still many workers who do not know abut the existence of MWC.

He said migrant workers should continue to approach MWC for help if they run into problems.
