Dear The Real Singapore,
I am writing today with regards to a concern which i have in regards to the alcohol ban on little india which kicks into place along little india on weekends. Here is my observation when i visited the said area where the alcohol ban was suppose to kick into place on Sunday 8th June 2014. As i was passing by 4-8 different coffee shops around 7.30pm, i noticed that this foreign nationals were drinking beers and liquor inside this shops. Some were even drinking in the empty fields near race course road.
What is even more disturbing is out of the 4 lanes which are available for vehicular traffic along little india , these foreign nationals were blocking the lanes on the left & right. This is an accident waiting to happen, these foreign nationals were also crossing & dashing across the road. I witness numerous times where motorcycles & cars almost collided with this foreign nationals. Furthermore in the smaller lanes like Rowell Rd, Hindoo Rd , Norris Rd. They were blocking the roads crowding around etc.
As for the Singapore Police Force, I noticed that there were the SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND red busses, but the police were not patrolling instead they were just siting in the buses. My question is this , are the authorities really enforcing this alcohol ban ? . Are the authorities waiting for history to repeat itself ? It seems that when news of the riot first broke out, they strictly enforced this ban but it seems like they are becoming too complacent. As for traffic safety why aren't the LTA and Traffic Police taking steps against this Foreign nationals who are walking on the side of the roads and crossing / jay walking on the roads. This is another accident waiting to happen.

Re: Foreign workers are still drinking alcohol at little india, what is our police do

Singapore is a place where miracles happen when migrant workers could afford alcohol and mobile phones while being repeatedly abused by their employers.

Re: Foreign workers are still drinking alcohol at little india, what is our police do

After the riot, Lui Tuck Yew blamed alcohol to divert attention from the awful response of the police.
The fact is that alcohol had zilch to do with the riot.
Alcohol is a convenient whipping boy.

It is similar to people blaming prostitution for criminal elements.

Please don't take anything the pappies say or do seriously. They have zero credibility.

If they are not allowed to drink in Little India, they can still do it in Geylang or Joo chiat.... not much a difference also.
