Lao Zoe was very jealous of Fann the rising new star who won 3 awards including Best Actress at the Star Awards 1995.

All her media lackeys started to write negative articles about Fann Wong.

In those days with no social media like Facebook and Instagram, an artiste's career could die from poison-pen articles written by local journalists. Fann's name was dragged through the m&d with accusations about how fake and proud she was, how ambitious she was etc.

Luckily for her, she pivoted to the Taiwanese market in 1997 and went on to markets such as HK and China. In contrast, Lao Zoe was languishing with no real achievements in Singapore or TCS.

TCS tried to push Lao Zoe into the movie market by pairing her up with HK stars like Simon Yam, Alex Man, Michael Tao Dayu and Francis Ng. All of these pairings failed big time and never got any traction.

She even released an EP through Sony Music that was a big-time flop and ended up being sold at the discount bin of HMV Heeren for S$1.00.

This is what happens when someone does 小动作 behind the scenes, acting like she's the unbeatable Queen of Caldecott Hill, No. 1 Ah Jie, when in reality she is only a big fish in a very small pond and will eventually die from lack of oxygen.

This lao char boh Zoe was reduced to begging for a role in Jeanette Aw's 2008 blockbuster Little Nyonya (which she didn't get), and got only an unimportant walk-on role in 2025's Emerald Hill.
