1. If Ben Davis does well in the years ahead, it will show how much NS drags down our youth. Singapore is the place on earth that foreigners particularly from China, India and Malaysia consistently dare to raise their voices at the locals because they enjoy almost equal social status and benefits as local-born. Even an AMDK will not dare do that to Vietnamese in Vietnam. Like whores, we have no national pride to speak of, foreigners are like patrons.
2. Only useless Regulars in Singapore get promoted because they are around long enough. We have lots of NSFs who are more committed than Regular soldiers. I have also came across regular soldiers in Japan and US who retired as Sergants but highly decorated and committed to their role. The removal of conscription will allow true meritocracy in SAF.
3. The recent water intrusion in Tuas by Malaysia proved that we are a toothless tiger. When senior LKY was around, our doctrine was to be a poisonous scorpion, once touch we will bite. The Malaysian idiots happily paraded in our waters for days, even indonesia dared to retained China quasi-govt fishing vessels but with a naval base in tuas, we dare not even retained the intruders or sink their vessel. Scholars made SAF ball less indeed. They only know how to study.
