SINGAPORE: A brawl broke out at a Football Association Cup match on Saturday (Oct 1) between two amateur clubs.
The match was between Singapore Armed Forces Sports Association (SAFSA) and Balestier United Recreation Club at Bukit Gombak Stadium.
The incident apparently happened after Balestier player Masnashzreen Masturi was sent off for punching an opponent.
Video footage taken from an eyewitness’ mobile phone and later shared by Facebook user Suresh Nair shows several people chasing a man believed to be SAFSA captain Syafiq Siraj.

He is seen in separate footage engaged in an altercation with several donning the Balestier United jersey. The brawl broke up after police officers arrived.
In a Facebook post, Syafiq said he was only a spectator and was not playing in the game that Saturday night. He also alleged that he and his mother were assaulted.
Police confirmed that a report has been lodged, adding that investigations are ongoing.
In a statement, an FAS spokesman said it will cooperate with the police and provide the necessary assistance. The association also said it will conduct its own investigation and take stern action against any offenders.
