Based on this episode, it has been clearly surfaced that LHL and his father is not a person of honest integrity and they will not easily admit to their own mistakes. Hence do you think that LHL is really sincere in his minor apology during the GE2011 and he is really serious about reforming his party? Wait long long as the saying goes .... I interpret this exchange as Lee Hsien Loong walking into Low Thia Kiang's trap. Low only said that he was unable to reconcile high ministerial salary with non-accountability, not resignation of Wong Kan Seng. By posing the question of Wong's resignation & then concluding after three seconds, Lee Hsien Loong just showed Singapore what a lousy leader he is, because he missed the point of Low's confusion, which was actually a question of leadership morality.
Lee Hsien Loong, in this incident, has no morals because he defended the system even though it is wrong. He is also a poor strategist, because by responding in that manner to Low, he showed that he is only interested in keeping yes-men & not in effective governing. Low Thia Kiang is a real gem of a talent; in a short exchange he exposed Lee Hsien Loong for the crap of a politician that he is. Low Thia Kiang also revealed why Lee Kuan Yew had perennial reservations about the "real" Chinese-educated - an ability to pose questions in an indirect way that will snare the most unsuspecting or naive prey.
In this regard, one has to admire Lee Kuan Yew for removing the Chinese-educated intelligentsia in the 1960s. He knew the Chinese-educated had a way of slapping him in the face without him knowing until it is too late.
