Flash floods wreak havoc in France's
southern Cote d'Azur region

Fifteen people died when heavy rains on Tuesday triggered flash floods in
France's southern Cote d'Azur region. Rescuers scrambled overnight to help hundreds
of people trapped in their vehicles, houses or on rooftops, while helicopters were sent
in to airlift residents. 'We haven't seen anything like this in a decade,' said an official, noting
that 180mm of rain had fallen within 12 hours. The flooding saw empty vehicles, cars and lorries
floating down the street. The rising water also trapped a high speed train with 300 passengers on board.
