Five teenagers arrested for illegal betting, bookmaking

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested five teenagers, including four secondary school students, for illegal betting and illegal bookmaking.
The students are between 14 and 18 years old.
Police say preliminary investigations showed that two of them were involved as bookmakers, including a 17-year-old student.
The two allegedly accepted bets through an illegal soccer betting website.
The other three suspects were believed to be involved in placing bets with illegal bookmakers.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
A person found guilty of illegal betting can be fined up to S$5,000 or jailed up to six months, or both.
