One person was sent to the hospital after a fire broke out at the Faculty of Engineering in National University of Singapore (NUS) at around 2.15pm.
A male security guard in his 50s has been warded for smoke inhalation, an SCDF spokesperson said. Three firemen were also sent to hospital for heat exhaustion. Firefighters are still working on the first and second floor of the E3A building at about 5pm.
</EMBED>
Believed to have started from a laboratory in Block E3A of the Faculty of Engineering, the fire has spread over the seven-storey building.
According to the spokesman for NUS, no other injuries have been reported. The affected building and its surrounding areas have also been cordoned off. NUS is currently investigating the incident.

Research Overview_____________________________________________________________________________________</SPAN>
Keywords: NanoBioanalytics, Biomicrodevices, Bead Microarrays, Microencapsulation, Microcapsule-PCR, Biosensors, Layer-by-Layer (LbL). </SPAN>
Biomicrodevices: In an interdisciplinary approach we combine microfabrication, surface chemistry and molecular biology to create novel devices using biomolecules (DNA or proteins) for analytical purpose. The final aim is the full integration of biological materials into microdevice fabrication processes, targeting mass production compatibility. </SPAN>
Encapsulation: By using the Layer-by-Layer (LbL) Technology we are creating core shell materials and smart capsules. The LbL technology allows nanoengineering of surface properties to tailor and incorporate different properties into capsules and nano/microparticles. </SPAN>
Emerging applications are in medicine, drug delivery, medical diagnostics and environmental monitoring. </SPAN>

There's plenty of Tiong students in the NUS Engineering faculty. Nothing has changed since 10+ years ago.

Another two faculties which I remember had lots of Tiong students: School of Computing, and Department of Life Sciences (back when the pappies kept hyping 'Life Sciences' as the next big thing, day in day out).

Nothing new to see here. Let's move on.

Are you saying other nationalities dun start fire??

Did the haze stopped in SGP this year?

2 Germans there. could they have contributed to the possible PRC firecrackers

Cavemen starts fire by rubbing sticks together, these are 'cavemen' of the 21st century, what to do, they in recent years had been let out if their 'caves', so what you expect people perception to be?, what do you think?

not too familiar with that area, but i suspect its a chemical synthesis rxn that is on a scale that is too large and things went wrong.
