China and the United States have commenced a new round of trade negotiations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. These discussions, on which sidelined with the 47th ASEAN Summit, began on October 24, 2025, and are set to continue until October 27, 2025.
Will the outcome being manipulated by some (un)scrupulous individual to make a quick USD on the exchange as so often seem in 2025?

Trump is currently on a Southeast Asia tour, visiting countries including Japan and Malaysia for the ASEAN Summit, and concluding in South Korea for the APEC meeting. It has not yet been confirmed by China whether President Xi or any representative will attend the meeting.
The current meeting ahead of the ASEAN summit involves trade delegations from China and the US to continue tariff trade discussions stalled during 4th meet in Madrid.

The US is likely to adopt a softer stance this time, as the outcome in Malaysia will play a crucial role for both the US and China in shaping the agenda for the upcoming APEC summit, where both leaders are set to meet in South Korea.
