Field report of SDP's countdown at Hong Lim Park

Over a hundred opposition activists, supporters and leaders turn up at SDP’s New Year eve’s countdown at Hong Lim Park which is also held in commemoration of the late opposition scion Mr J.B. Jeyaretnam, who passed away recently in October this year.

Prominent leaders of the opposition include Mr Sin Kek Tong, Chairman of the Singapore People’s Party and Mr Ng Teck Siong, Chairman of the Reform Party. Mr Sebastian Teo, Secretary-General of the National Solidarity Party and Mr Tan Kin Lian will be taking to the podium later.

Conspicuous by their absence is Mr Low Thia Kiang and Ms Sylvia Lim of JBJ’s former party - the Workers’ Party. It is not known if they have been invited or they had declined the invitation to attend the event.
