There are alot of old commercial games from the past. These old games were limited by the older hardware e.g. storage, CPU, GPU but they are still fun and now free

MOST dos games should run on the lastest version of dosbox as long as you have a PC that's at least dual-core. graphics card not necessary. if the game runs too fast, you can always slow in down the dosbox's config file. games made for win95/98/ME and/or voodoo graphics cards are a lot more harder run on modern machines.

there's a freeware multi-platform version of SC2 called "ur-quan master" which is TOTALLY FREE AND BUG-FREE. just google it.

For modern games, I liked anything from Blizzard. For old games, my all time favorite is Sword of Samurai. Wonder anyone here played it

How about these ultimate series, Ultima III EXODUS, Ultima IV Quest of Avatar, Ultima V, the rest of the Ultima Series becomes too difficult and complicated to play...

ROTK is my favorite, and it's this game that made me very interested in the story of Romance of the 3 Kingdoms.

Now there are some very good business games in STEAM, I've got myself PATRICIAN IV, and it's really good for doing business trading.

Another of my favourite is Capitalism II, but they don't make any updates anymore... I wonder why.

Online free games like ALIEN SWARM, from STEAM... it's pretty fun!

Yeah, played Wizardry on my old Taiwan Pineapple PC. Ultima was great esp Ultima 7.

wow wing commander, i used to love this game too, it was the most eye candy game at my time.

but now, the most eye candy game is first person shooter. look at this year coming games, what a difference.

but dawn of war is still best looking RTS. at least for me.

- never liked SimCity, Command & Conquer, Civilisation and flight simulators.. and could never learn how to play the ROTK series despite my best efforts :p

1996:

Unfortunately, never had the chance to get into the Monkey Island and Leisure Suit Larry series. Didn't like Diablo either.

1998:

Computer, Sega Genesis, and Nintendo locked up by mom. Returned Sega Saturn to friend.

1999:

1. Heroes of Might and Magic 3
2. Thief
3. FIFA 99
4. LegendMUD (Multi-user Dungeon - think of an MMORPG entirely in text)

Rest of the time spent on Playstation 1 :p

2000 - 2003:

1. Thief 2

Lost PC-gaming years. Never got into Counterstrike, and didn't enjoy Warcraft 3 that much either. Sega Dreamcast was tooo good.

2004 onwards:

1. DOTA!!!
2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
3. Star Wars: Jedi Academy
4. Alien versus Predator 2
5. Football Manager 2007/2008, 2008/2009

Rest of the time up until now spent on X360, or DOSBox games, after giving up on never-ending PC hardware upgrades.

And of course, this list doesn't include the various Chinese-translated porno RPGs. Some were even Shining Force clones that were actually quite good. Hahahaha :p

most of the old ultimas(1-5) are damn buggy and need a walkthrough to beat for me. gave up playing them. the spin-offs , ultima underworld 1 and 2 are nicer. made by the same guys who would eventually make the theif project games and system shock.
