SINGAPORE — A 41-year-old man and his 20-year-old son were among 109 suspected drug offenders arrested in a five-day islandwide operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

The pair were apprehended along with two female companions – aged 18 and 25 – at a unit in the Woodlands Rise area, said the CNB in a media release on Friday (12 July).

Officers had to force their way into the unit as the suspects had refused to comply with orders to open the main door. Small amounts of heroin, methamphetamine (also known as “Ice”) and ketamine were recovered from within the unit, the CNB added.

Islandwide raids
From 7 July to the morning of 12 July, CNB officers conducted raids in areas including Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Geylang, Tampines, Punggol and Serangoon.

About $32,000 worth of drugs were seized during the operation. This included about 87g of heroin, 91g of “Ice”, 33g of ketamine, 274g of new psychoactive substances (NPS), 98 Erimin-5 tablets, 381 “Ecstasy” tablets and a small amount of cannabis.

During one raid at a budget hotel at Lorong 22 Geylang, officers arrested a 27-year-old female foreigner and a 40-year-old Singaporean man. About 58g of “Ice”, along with the hauls of ketamine, “Ecstasy” tablets and Erimin-5 tablets were found in their room.

Investigations into the drug activities of all the suspects are ongoing.
