When it was announced in July, I, like many fans, thought it was to promote talent development, as FAS had said the team will "comprise of national players below the age of 23, five players above the age of 23 and complimented by the quota of foreign players allowed".

We were proven wrong last month as the FAS announced a 29-man squad, half of whom are 23 or older. It seems to fans that FAS is unclear about its priorities.

While FAS president Zainudin Nordin had stressed earlier that the S-League will not become a "poorer cousin" once the LionsXII start their Malaysia Cup campaign, the recent developments seem to suggest otherwise.

The new league starts in 6 weeks - blur Zainuddin ('sack national team') and teams do not have schedules. Neither has CEO been announced. This blur blob should resign before he takes us further down the tube. Raddy should keep him company and go too.

they must have meant mental age. In that case they are 100% correct.

It's a final nail in the coffin for the S-League. By re-joining the M'sia Cup, TPTB have conceded.

But what better way to re-kindle the nationalistic fervour of yesteryears by whacking cmi state teams. Huat ah!

That they still refuse to scrap the S-League or at least relegate it to semi-pro already tells much.

The S-League is nothing more than a relic pet project from Mah Bow Tan (Goal 2010) and his band of pro-FT bootlickers at FAS.

Now with Mah Bow Tan out of the picture, S-League should be scrapped. Immediately.

The only times when the S-League made headlines were during cases of corruption, and when scenes like this occur:

Scrap the S-League!

S-league is dead. No one will watch them. Just go to any game how many willing to pay for the ticket each game. Less than 200 people other get free ticket from school those student getting free ticket.
The cost of the ticket not even enough to cover the rent of the stadium for the match.

Is PAP and spot minister problem. I port so many FT and Sinkie lost direction even if they win with few FT others country will boo boo.........also own citizen also dont want to cheer for them. Compare to 20 year ago the feeling is different even limping die die still want to kick the ball.

S'pore's glorious days in football was when the FAS President was not affilated to the PAP in anyway. To most in this forum, the last one we can remember is N Ganesan whose superb combination with coach Uncle Choo won back the Malaysia Cup after decades and led Spore to the quarter-finals of an Olympic spot (or something like that). After N Ganesan, the PAP in seeing that football is such a widely popular game with the population thought it would be safer if it has its own man at the helm. PAP started appointing its own Minister, Snr Parliamentary Sec, MPs etc as FAS President, local football had gone downhill ever since. I remember when Mah Bow Tan was appointed FAS President, a reporter asked him how he had been involved with football. MBT replied very proudly that he had watched S'pore played in a number of games during the Malaysia Cup and supported the team. N Ganesan in contrast was a goalkeeper since his school days and played right through his career while with the police. He run for the FAS President out of the love for the game and those who are in the circle will know how much of the expenses came out from his pocket. MBT didn't run for the FAS President. He was simply appointed by LKY. He simply saw it as a job to be done with expenses coming out entirely from FAS budget. The next president was also from PAP, and the next and the next.................. all appointed rather than a passion for the game. What then can we expect??? To qualify for the World Cup or Olympics??? This is the result of mixing politics with sports.

Eversince the 80s, its already the tradition of the PAP to appoint their boys to be Presidents of FAS... Same thing for table tennis and Badminton.. Part of their tactics to further spread the PAP doctrine to the sports community in Spore.. Time for a non PAP man to take helm of FAS.. A man that is truly in love with local football and a man that can lead and galvanise our National team that is now totally in the doldrums..

There is at least one. Hariss Harun.

I don't understand the hype about him. He's like the Jack Rodwell of Sinkieland - overrated. If you were to put me through reruns of Zheng Geping's drama serials and force me to pick the most talented young player in Sinkieland, I would have to go with Shahfiq Ghani of Young Lions.

I don't mind Pritam.. We also got so many ex National players who are doing well in their careers... Quah Kim Song, Seah Poh Leong , Auyong Pak Kuan, Leong Kok Fann... Anyone of them can lead the FAS..

Kok Fann an ideal choice. Seak and Kim Song held posts in FAS but made no headway.

PAP in charge in sport they dont understand sportmanship. Win with honor and respect from others.

Just pick Fandi if he's willing...naturally our favourite son in this sport!
