First, my English is not that good but please allow me to speak out my feelings in response to our prime minister letting so many China and India PR’s and foreign workers into Singapore.
I am a 100% Singapore born Singaporean and all along I have loved my country and think PAP is great especially Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
I had the opportunity to live in Hong Kong for almost 13 years and recently got back due to wanting to be with old parents and grandmother.
I missed the Singapore 13 years ago where most people are Singaporeans and PR’s and foreigners are not everywhere like now. It is a more happy environment then.
It is not that I resent PR’s or foreigners but it is the fact that they are so different and the changes and influence they make in our society and living environment is significant.
I wonder if these PR’s and foreign workers are being scanned thoroughly by the customs. I live in HDB flat and my next door neighbours are from China. They are noisy and busy body and rude. Some of them even walk around not wearing any shirts in public areas. Go down to any coffee shops and you can see them wearing shorts and tight T-shirts talking in sedutive tones serving drinks. I went once to Geylang to buy durians and the whole place is filled with foreigners and the feeling they give people is no good as if they are up to something no good. These people instead of adapting to our culture, they insist that their culture is the best and they think very highly of themselves and look down on Singaporeans.
Yes, Singapore is small and we do not give birth enough but we have our own people who are talented and smart and well behaved, why do we need so many foreigners? We can train and develop our own people to fit in various roles.
These foreigners make the salary in Singapore low. the salary now compared to 13 years ago is not much difference, maybe only a slight increment. The pay in Hong Kong is much higher. Why do we want to make every one’s pay so low when housing are getting more and more expensive, things are expensive.
Let me compare the prices of some of the things in HK and Singapore:-
1) Kitchen Aid Cake Mixer machine, heavy duty white, I had one in HK costing me only HK$2900 (around S$500) but in CK Tang or any Kitchen Aid shops, it costs S$1119, why such a big difference?
2) Small animals like rabbits, a lop ear rabbit in HK only costs about HK$320 to HK$400, why does it cost S$180 in Singapore?
3) Clarins foundation, extra firming, one bottles costs HK$240 (about S$40+) in HK (at HK Sogo), why does it costs S$66 here (eg. BHG shopping centre)?
I go around Singapore and finding so many foreign people (in trains, homes, etc.) and things getting more and more expensive and salary not very good, I feel so depressed and wonder why I came back……………..
