Former Singapore Prime Ministers Lee Kuan Yew and Goh Chok Tong have accepted opposition leader Dr Chee Soon Juan’s offer of $30,000 settlement of his bankruptcy suit.
Dr Chee was sued for defamation by the two leaders in 2006 for $500,000 and was bankrupted as a result.
In an update posted on the official website of the Singapore Democratic Party, Dr Chee revealed that the Official Assignee has replied to him that Mr Lee and Mr Goh have both indicated that they “have no objection” to the offer of $30,000 as settlement of the matter.
Dr Chee wrote that he will be working to raise the sum to pay them through the sale of his books and that his plans to contest in the next General Election:
“I look forward to being formally cleared of my bankruptcy so that I am eligible to stand in the next general elections in 2016 and lead a party that would rival the PAP as the potential ruling party.”

Dun be delusional. You think the WP dares to challenge the SDP in a three corner fight? There is a hard core opposition support of 20%. Most of this core of supporters will vote for the SDP in the event of a three way fight.

There's another 30% or so for the PAP. Out of the balance of 50%, they either vote for the real opposition (SDP) or the evil PAP. Where does this leave the WP? All 50%? The balance of the remnants? 10 - 15%?

Please dun be delusional. The SDP is a recognised name. Ask your taikos in WP. LTK will do well not to meddle with the SDP.

I know there are a lot of analysts around but not everything they say is accurate.

There may be a group of hardcore supporters of 20%, but they vote "anything but PAP". Among the 20%, if there is 3 corner fight, no more than 2% will be "anything but WP", of which you (and probably yellow) belong to.

Anyway, SDP is also losing that aspect and image of firebrand. And anyway, why would you want to win only hardcore supporters?

Hello Littlebro, no one in their right mind will engage in 3-corner fights. WP and SDP want to win not lose in 3-corner fights against the PAP.

No one in their right mind will take on CSJ and the SDP. In GE 2016, SDP will either make a breakthrough or die. Unless force into a 3-corner fight, CSJ will be in parleement fighting for us!

Knowing Dr Chee, he will be fearless. The chicken hearted WP will not take him headlong. One, WP will lose more than they can chew. Two, Wayang Party will be exposed as nothing more than main wayang all over. Three, WP reputation as PAP side kick is confirmed.

Bro, has the SDP spoken on issues? Yes. Has the WP spoken on issues? Yes.

Is WP firebrand? No. Is SDP firebrand now? No.

Did WP and SDP both use the net? Yes, at varying platforms.

Did WP have hits and misses? Yes. Did SDP have? Yes. Who's perfect?

Are people clear about WP's ideologies? Not all? The SDP? About the same, if not worse.

Has the WP gotten embroiled in lawsuits and legal cases? No. Has the SDP done so? No, not in the last long 3 years.

It is up to you decide and insist that people swallow certain imaginary "differences" that are cooked up to "prove" that WP was actually the "worst" opposition to send to parliament. These same arguments were heard in the last 11 years since JBJ left the party, but WP continued to grow because people know these differences are cooked up.
