PM Lee

Over on PM Lee’s Facebook page [Link], it has been observed
that many of PM’s supporters are condemning blogger Roy Ngerng and cheering the
PM for taking legal actions against Roy.

Some of the supporters are even asking PM Lee to invoke the Internal Security
Act (i.e, detention without trial) against Roy:

Franklin Wong: Dearest Mr Lee Hsien Loong, It is time to
bring back the old ISA. i wish there will be more peace in Singapore. You are
too gracious to Roy.

TF Liang: I hate to admit – but I agree w Mr
Wong.

Francis Leong: I agree too.
One supporter, TK Pang, who thinks Roy only has an ‘O’ level certificate,
said that Roy is misleading the society:

TK Pang: PM, you sue Roy Ngerng is the right move to
stop him from misleading the society.

You lend or invest a million dollars in the business of a friend who
promise you a 4% interest a year. Then the friend makes 100% profit in a year
time and return your million dollars with 4% interest. You query and blame your
friend for only giving you 4% interest while he’s making 100% profit. This is
the same scenario when we all know that CPF, Temasek and GIC are three different
entities, thus business units.

Since investment and financial activities are so easy to understand and
straight forward as Roy thinks I don’t see why people need to go to Harvard and
Dartmouth and why the Big Four, including Tamasek, paying multi-million dollars
to the investment bankers to make billions. It’s much cheaper to pay a O Level
cert holder like Roy to do the job. Everyone with basic financial or business
sense should understand this. I just told my wife if she believed in Roy, who
might not even be qualified for A Level, she should not press our son so hard
for a place in NUS.

Another supporter compared Roy to a virus:

Tan Yew Kim: First time, u close one eye, second time ,
u close the other, but the third time it happen, u got no more eye to close. U
are right to take action to end this one and for all. All those insult. It may
seen that you a big boy bullying a small boy, but small like as in a virus is
far too danger to ignore and be lenient with as it can multiply fast and destroy
you in no time. To be transparent in our investment is to invite our enemy to
attack us financially. Our investment must be secretive. Please continue to do
so. People do not realise this.

Yet, another supporter called Roy a “nutcase” and a “misguided” individual,
who is influenced by “negative” (presumably, online) media:

Alvin Lim: I dun contribute much to CPF, due to my
health reasons, but I know many are worrying about their retirement. And I am
glad that the government is hearing their voices, once again. Kudos.

Relating to this, I am glad extensions are given to Roy Ngerng. I believe
he is one of those misguided individuals, who are influenced by all the negative
media. Or perhaps, he is political motivated. I guess only he knows himself
best. Nonetheless, I believe the PMO is going in the right direction in dealing
with him.

And what he is proposing is a very dangerous idea. Once we draw down on
the funds locked in, we may never be privy to some of the investment
opportunities in the future. I doubt he is trained in finance. Or is
he?

Sigh* If there are more nutcases like him around, I am really going to
worry for Singapore’s future.

Is Roy badly influenced by the “negative” online media? Or perhaps these PM
Lee’s supporters are too influenced by the “positive” mainstream media?

What do you think?

All the comments are valid. I certainly hope LHL comes down hard on those who are trying to destabilise the country.

It's like some prisoners want the prison warden to tekan a particular inmate because they're not happy with him.

The ISA is an abomination, and next time the prison warden may target you and tekan you.

You encouraging the present government to destabilise this Country?....this is a different world today. Play that ISA card wrongly the entire country, may be destabilise...do not take the populace for granted.

For a government that cannot take criticism, constructive or not, unless that person (s) call for a mass arm rising, uses ISA to silence the critics, is not for to be a government.

All governments have provisions to deal with instability so why should Singapore be any different.

Constitutions can be suspended when situations justify this measure. Governments are not immune either. Govts that risk the stability of the country can be sacked by the head of state in countries like NZ and OZ.

The ISA is merely a tool to ensure peace and harmony. It needs to used when the situation warrants it.
