MR MIKE CHAN: 'I refer to the response by terrorism expert, Dr Rohan Gunaratna, to the recent security breach at the Changi train depot ('Taxpayers 'should not pay for SMRT security''; Monday). I find it baffling he thinks there was no fundamental weakness to the overall security framework and the break-in was an anomalous freak accident.
As I recall, two foreigners snuck all the way to a stationary train inside the depot and probably spent about 20 minutes spray-painting graffiti on the entire length of a carriage without being detected. They cut through ordinary fencing at the perimeter to gain entry without hindrance from any electronic alarm detector or security guard. And they escaped through the same hole they made at the fencing. No fundamental weakness in SMRT's overall security framework, but only an anomaly and a freak accident? I would have thought it was the most basic of security lapses which enabled the two to gain entry.'

WKS also had a most basic security lapses when MSK escaped to Johor.... a mistake is a mistake..wether basic or complex...our lives ar at stake...basic

Was it the case that the security breach was only discovered 2 days later?

Could there be others whom had used the same hole to go in and come out within that 2 days?
