ppl who went thru forced resettlements will know what will happen when ppl refused to budge. electrical short circuit and fire breakout. of course, fire can start for no apparent reason too.

This trick never been used for decades liao.....back then was common occurance...the official line is old houses la but funny its always those targetted for resettlement that got burned down.......now they more savvy no need for such things.....just throw the book at you.

in 1988 and 1992, a row of shophouses were burn down by fire at two different locations. the latest was just 4-5yrs the guy who refused to moved when hdb enbloc the old 4 storey hdb blocks at punggol which was built in the 1970s just before the esso petrol station. hdb cut off his water and electric supplies and he continue to live on his ground floor unit in candle lights. no idea what happen to him as the new blocks already completed where the old blocks once stood.
