Xing Sheng Transport Services' 12 buses seat 40 passengers each and ferry about 960 foreign workers from their dormitories to Little India every Sunday.
Its buses are just some of the 263 vehicles that transport about 32,000 foreign workers to the area on a Sunday.
Buses can charge between $4 and $6 per round trip, or between $3 and $5 according to distances.
That means big bucks for the bus operators -- the Singapore School Transport Association and Singapore School & Private Hire Bus Owners’ Association (SSPHBOA) -- which have been plying the Little India bus route for more than a decade.
SSPHBOA chairman Neo Tian Beng told TNP that the Land Transport Authority asked about the two associations’ plans to continue operating the bus services following Sunday's riot.
Mr Neo said he has made it clear that his association will not stop organising the bus trips.
“Why should we stop? The riot was a one-off case,” he said.
