Starting from September this year, disabled Pioneer Generation Singaporeans will receive $100 monthly in financial help.
The assistance scheme, named the Pioneer Generation Disability Assistance Scheme (PioneerDAS) will be available for seniors who need permanent assistance in 3 out of 6 pre-determined daily activities.
The activities include showering or bathing, dressing, eating, going to the toilet, moving from bed to chairs or vice versa, and walking on even surfaces.
Pioneer generation Singaporeans who need permanent help with any 3 or more of these 6 activities, can sign up for the scheme from July 1st.
Those who receive ElderShield or Interim Disability Assistance Program or receive the Foreign Domestic Worker Grant will be automatically included in the program and will be notified of their inclusion via mail in the next few weeks.
Elderly Singaporeans can be assessed on their needs at any doctor under the Singapore Medical Council or a registered nurse and even registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists. These professionals can assess Pioneer Singaporeans for eligibility under the PioneerDAS.
Application forms will also be available at community centres and Social Service Offices.
