<!--start of story text-->Foreign workers who find themselves without food, medical care or shelter are to receive help from a newly established fund.
The pool of money, which the public can donate to, will pay for the work of non-governmental organisation the Migrant Workers' Centre.
An inaugural fund-raising event will be held later this year, with details to be announced in due course.

The streets of Little India have been home to Bangladeshi worker Bimol Chandra Saha for close to eight months.
His daily routine of finding a place to sleep in a carpark, alleyway, or void deck starts at about midnight when the crowds thin out and shops are shuttered.
It is close to 3am when he finally settles down to sleep.
He is often joined by dozens of other Bangladeshi workers who have left the lodging provided by their employers because of disputes.
Many have free meals at a restaurant in Little India sponsored by migrant workers group Transient Workers Count Too.
Mr Bimol, 27, came to Singapore to work at a shipyard in 2008. He was happy with his job until 2010, when he slipped and hurt his leg at work.
He said his boss was not happy about paying for his medical bills and started scolding him.
He left his dormitory and started renting a bed space at a shophouse in Little India for about $200 a month. But he ran out of money last September and had to start living on the streets.
He is still waiting for the compensation claim for his leg injury to be settled, but does not know when that will happen.
He said: 'I am very tired of waiting but I have no choice. I want to go back to Bangladesh soon and come back to Singapore again and earn more money.'

Very funny want to go back also want to come back work. Just deported them and ban them from working in SG no more Work permit.

Many bangalas can afford to buy land or start their own businesses after working for a few years in SG, so it is natural for them to come over to SG try their luck. But why did the $$$-million FAP ministers choose to bochup the massive social problems that will arise from the insane importing of these people?

since they cannot contribute to singapore why must singaporean support those FT ? should establish a fund for air ticket and send them back .

We should be taxing these FT countries because we are helping them to lower their unemployment and crime rate by creating jobs for their citizens and taking on those crimes/social problems that come with them.
So if these FTs are out of job, they should be sent straight to their embassies.

since they cannot contribute to singapore why must singaporean support those FT ? should establish a fund for air ticket and send them back .

They do contribute. Current levy for worker is from $200~$450/month.
And they do increase the passenger traffic in Changi by about 20%. Plus spend money in supermarket/transport.
If without them I sure there will be less supermarket/bus/taxi.............................
There about 2million holder of EP/S-pass/WP/student pass at any time ..........
Imagine 2 million spending power.

The FAP's real purpose of importing foreigners is to shore up its flagging support, especially before the Old Dud passes on. Since most foreigners are not daft and merely using SG as their stepping stone for greener pasture or to make a fast buck and balek kampung, the success rate of making these foreigners take up that pink tampon is low. Hence the need to bring them in by the hordes to achieve the impact. The other nice outcome is this will also discourage SGs to have families and hence, speed up the ftrashisation process.
