I think this is something TRE should investigate and write about. It’s getting out of hands. I’m talking about the tens of thousands of foreigners on scholarships in secondary schools, polys and universities. They are all fully funded, given tuition grants and allowances.
This is what I gathered from one case. One Poly sent a team to Guangzhou to recruit PRC students. The students who passed the Poly exams were given places in whichever courses they chose. Their high school results were not required for their applications. They were given tuition grants which would bind them to stay and work in Singapore for 5 years after graduation.
One of the students who came to Singapore found out that her friends from the same high school used only their high school results to get into NTU, NUS and SMU. She told me she could have applied to university instead.
A lot of her friends are studying in universities for degrees and masters, either on scholarships or given tuition grants. The concern here is that thousands of them from lousy high schools were given places in our local universities and our local born and bred Singaporeans have to compete to get in. Needless to day, with limited places in our three local universities, many Singaporean students can’t get in. Yet, these PRC students from their dubious high schools are given scholarships funded by our taxpayers’ monies and many don’t even have to serve a day of National Service.
When she came to Singapore, she joined a clan that helps foreign students coming from a particular province in China. She found that many of the members after graduations are all given PR straight away. All her graduate friends have PR and best of all, most are given high paying jobs in GLCs!
This massive import of foreigners has gone on for years. And the real intent is to build a new core of supporters for PAP.
Can TRE go investigate this? This is a very serious problem for us born and bred locals. We are deprived of university places and jobs!

Editor’s note: From what we know, Governmentt has stopped giving PR automatically to university foreign students when they graduate even if they are on scholarships. Will try to find out about the claim that our local universities only look at their high school results without giving any of our own exams. Certainly, the concern is that their quality may be in question if they come from some lousy high schools. We will keep readers inform about this.

This is the sort of people the daft 60.1% voted back into power, to treat their own youngsters like that. Our kids have no chance to get into the 3 colleges here due to this shitty policy, that is giving grants to foreign sub standard students to come into this country so bloody easily.
This cannot go on, all you parents out there, you may think that your kids are still very young, you will deal with it later, well guess what. In time, your kids will have no paper to chase, as you may not be able to afford to put them into overseas colleges, and also, they can’t get a palce in their own home’s colleges. Think about it. We are in such a big shit hole now with all these unfair treatment dealt out by our own govt, imagine 5 to 10 years from now!

this is the funny part, local uni student need 2nd class upper to study phd/master. PRC idiots dun need even honour in their degree to receive scholarship to study phd (i personally talk to and know one in my previous workplace, got a bloody shock when i realised her degree is 3 years normal degree).

How would you know which school in china or india is lousy high schools? We do not live there, we never heard of some of the high school before. I think we should let the gov do their own jobs. When the opposition win power, they can change the law and welcome anybody they like.

its not high sch i am talking about, its their university. And the best part, from these unranked uni, their 3 years degree do not even have honors, and yet they can come here and do phd. We locals have to work really hard in order to get inside these graduate program.

of course no prize for guessing, many from these china uni have problem with their qualifying phd exam, while the local in general pass with ease (the questions are randomly choosen from past year level 2 modules). but then again, many of them came here with already a Master, for those well, they are more than welcome honestly.

i ever work with their top university graduate, and i almost vomit blood. but then again the details involved are a bit too technical so even if i shared here, unless you are from the same field you won't appreciate it. What i can say is this, even our poly graduate that i met and work with, their hands on techniques are WAY BETTER THAN that idiot.

Qing hua....PUI. after i met a few, to me BIG DEAL, even our poly graduate wins then hands down. i have no idea why those chinese are so proud of it.
