For those not familiar with the Cheongsam Lady, allow me to provide you with a short backstory: The target first appeared in a video posted on Facebook by user Jaclyn Teo. The content of the 6-minute video centred on how a 76-year-old retired teacher was making a heartfelt speech about her CPF savings. Towards the end, you can see the Cheongsam Lady gesturing her hands, in what seemed to be insinuating that the speaker was crazy.

Yes, I disagree with how the Cheongsam Lady reacted to the retired teacher’s speech. Singaporeans took umbrage with her behaviour, and I understand that. Her hand gestures were definitely done in bad taste and mocking an elderly like that spoke volume of the Cheongsam Lady’s level of empathy and compassion towards her.

I am in no position to judge the lady’s overall character as a person outside merely from her few seconds of folly, but alas, she was caught red-handed by someone who had secretly recorded her actions. Do you think she would perform those hand gestures if she had known that the CPF event was to be filmed? I don’t think so. It’s not a question of maturity on the Cheongsam Lady’s part; its a question of sincerity.

The Cheongsam Lady is wrong and her actions are proof of that. She should be condemned for her actions online but it should stop at that. This is free speech. Flaying her with names and exposing her personal information is not. I could sense a malicious intent to have her pay the fullest price for her actions, in this case possibly trying to make her lose her job.
Not all Singaporeans are in the same ship that reeks of malice though; not all joined the hazing. I have spotted a few commentators who had voiced out their disapproval of exposing the target’s personal details. One such user is Mr Bernie Khaw who said, “Whilst you may not agree with her, posting her contacts out there with such a message is a nasty thing. Let’s not stoop down to that level, even if the ‘target’ is a PAP supporter.”

Law minister K Shanmugam was right when he said that the newly passed anti-harassment act is “not going to change behaviour overnight“. The act covers online harassment activities and cyber-bulling, giving the courts authority to sentence offenders with a jail term or community order.

If the anti-harassment act is meant to deter Singaporeans from engaging in cyber-bulling for instance, then the culprits involved in the recent Cheongsam Lady case would beg to differ. Perhaps the ability to be anonymous online continues to provide the cyber-bully with a sense of bravery, which even though is superficial, may be enough to cause one to do something foolish thanks also to the mob mentality.

It is not known if the numbers provided by the virtual CSIs in the Cheongsam Lady episode are true. Nonetheless, if it is, I could imagine how distressed she would be at home or in office. Would it affect her performance at work too?

The whole Cheongsam Lady saga is a needless distraction, misleading us away from the plight and views of the 76-year-old speaker. We ridicule the China citizens for their barbaric or uncivilised behaviour offline, but we fail to look at ourselves in the mirror. :oIo:

I’d like to appeal to Singaporeans to stop harassing someone who admittedly has had her or her faults exposed online. I’d like to ask Singaporeans to stop with the cyberbullying. Yes, the Cheongsam Lady was wrong but shaming her online is wrong too, maybe even worse. Remember, two wrongs won’t make a right.

yes, please stop the bullying. the slit in the cheongsam all the way up thunder thighs and arse is deliberately designed for unimpeded release of flatulence without causing undue passage and sound of compressed gas attempting to escape tight quarters. she's being considerate to those sitting nearby. otherwise, the whistling of natural gas is too distracting. plus the odor of post-processed cabbage from last evening's curry chap chai. :p

i have recipe for sio bak!!!

Ingredients:
1 kg of meat, make sure the skin no hair, skin not too thick, layered with enough fats.
2 table spoon of "5 spice powder"
2 table spoon of "ShaoXing" wine
2 tea spoon of salt
a dash of white pepper
a dash of sesame seed oil
a dash of garlic oil
vinegar

Method:
bring a pot of water to a boil, add some vinegar in it
parboil the meat in the boiling water for about 30s
drain the water, soak the meat in ice cold water
dry the slab of meat and use skewer to prick lots of holes on the skin only
mix the said portion of salt, wine, 5 spice powder, sesame seed oil and garlic oil well
marinate the meat only with this mixture, keeping the skin very dry
this marinated meat should be kept in the fridge overnight
preheat the oven to over 200 degrees C for about 5-10 min
retrieve the marinated meat from fridge
apply a generous layer of vinegar on the skin only
pop the meat into the oven, roast over 45 min till skin is crispy and golden brown

Bon appetite!

[h=1]LADY IN WHITE WHO CALLS OUTSPOKEN AUNTY AT CPF DIALOGUE 'MAD' IS PAP GRASSROOTS MEMBER[/h]

Related: 76 year old lady begs Hri Kumar to return her CPF money
PAP MP Hri Kumar's CPF dialogue event had drawn a lot of online attention, particularly since a video of a 76 year old's pleas to Hri Kumar was recorded and shared widely online.
The elderly lady explained that she is in a very sad situation and all she needs is to get back her CPF so that she can settle down. She spoke passionately from her heart and explained her sad story.
Many Singaporeans shared the video of her speech and spoke in support of her pleas and struggles.
However, netizens have also noticed one particularly rude lady in the audience, dressed in a white cheongsam, who kept trying to stop the 76 year old aunty from talking and was motioning to organisers to remove her from the microphone.
In the video, she can be seen gesturing at 5:33, shaking her head and moving her hands as if the outspoken lady is mad.
She was rudely interrupting and repeating "1 minute" "1 minute", apparently referring to the 1 minute time limit that was imposed on questions at the dialogue. She showed no regard for the fact that the elderly lady was speaking from her heart and about her dire situation. The lady in white continued to make a fuss despite the fact that the rest of the room seemed supportive of the lady speaking and was happy to listen to her story.
It turns out that the disruptive lady is actually an active PAP grassroots member and netizens have shown their disgust for her rude actions.
Photos of her at the CPF dialogue have been used to find her identity and photos have been found of her volunteering at grassroots activities.

It also appears that she works at NTUC Income and is very close to the Lee Family, even being able to walk side by side with Mr Lee Kuan Yew many years ago:

It seems that PAP supporters often have no regard for the struggles of others. They are more interested in following rules strictly to the letter and seem to show a lack of compassion, especially if the person in need is critical of the government or their policies.
What do you think?

Her actions, unfortunately for her, personifies all that has always been said of grassroot 'leaders'. They are self-serving - like getting priority schools for their kids. They don't really want to listen to your problems. They are there to facilitate the MPs, not to 'serve' you.

That she is not a teenager does not help matters. She is the epitome of exactly what is wrong with the feedback process.

This is but unfortunately half the picture. Apart from their self-serving ways, they think that being seen with the FAP Traitor Minitoots and MPees and carrying their balls, they are a special breed of higher mortals and have the right to view ordinary SGs with disdain and to give SGs dirty look. When in fact, they are behaving just like dogs themselves. As such, SGs have no need to give them face. Such shameless creatures are only afraid of the strong and bully the weak. The way to deal with them is to stand up to them. If they give you a dirty look, do the same back to them. If they make gesture at you, give them your middle finger. If they shout at you, shout back at them. If they shoo you away, push them back.
