$100,000.00 COE coming you twit!

Why not just set up a $2 company, then buy a family van? You can print the corporate logo on the vehicle and gain free entry to some carparks as they think your van is only stopping for delivery.

BTW, this vehicle:

is very popular in Thailand. Many Thais add LED lights and mod them to the extreme.

Dear all,

are there any disadvantages to having a diesel car vs petrol?

I was told that Diesel needs to be worked had and maintained well,,,if not will give problems..also suited for long range drives lor,,if not engine will fuck up,,,,but of course diesel has longer range, cheaper fuel,,and if engine maintained well will last forever..

But this and Toyota's Vigo still rules. But this and the above comes from the same factory and have identical dashboard.

Bro, the Chevy made in which country? You tried? What is the fuel consumption?

I own a 3.0TDI Audi Q7

Beautifully smooth, Air suspension machiam like riding on a magic carpet, getting 950+kms on a 90l tank combined fuel mileage.

Turbo diesel means a hulk her size can still hit 0-100 in about 9 seconds. Decent acceleration, but max speed in excess of 220km/h

Long distance lagi better mileage. After the end of a long drive, you do not have the smell of fuel fumes around you car, but a rather pleasant "soot" (carbon) smell.

Only gripe is the cabin and engine bay is heavily padded so don't really have the same "growl" as a petrol engine, because it masks the "taxi" engine sound.

Just be aware that Diesels, unlike Petrol, absorb water from the atmosphere, meaning that you can face some performance degradation in humid weather. It runs best here in Perth during the cool but dry Autumn and Spring periods.

No problems with the Q7 maintenance, but I heard you must change the water separator and engine oil filters judiciously and monitor your Engine oil levels frequently. Early modern diesels (late-90s) also had a lot of issues with the fuel pump as modern Diesels must maintain injection pressures in access of 2000bar to allow the engine to go up to 7000rpm like petrol, but designs are a lot more robust nowadays.

Now a days its quite maintenance free (other than the 10,000km routine maintenance). I've ever driven 1,000km with a single 76L tank and its mix driving not all long distance. Yes deisel in Thailand is cheaper than Benzene and Gasohol, here are the current price of fuel in Thailand.

Benzene 91 Octane is 43.75 baht per litre (S$1.77)
Deisel is 20.79 baht per litre (S$1.20)
Gasohol 95 Octane is 37.83 per litre (S$1.53)
Gasohol 91 Octane is 35.38 baht per litre (S$1.43)

Gasohol is 10% ethanol + 90% benzene most people use this

The Chevy shown above is known as Colorado. It is made in the Isuzu plant in Thailand. It was launched early last year, immediately after the "great flood" in Thailand, together with that Isuzu D-Max (V-Cross) shown above. Both are based on the same platform, share almost all the parts so look pretty similar but I think the Colorado looked more handsome.

The engines are very different. Colorado has a 2.8L Duramax diesel engine while the D-Max has a 3L Ddi diesel.

I have not tried the Colorado however I bought this V-Cross which I rarely drive. Got this to standby for future floods. So I can only tell you about this truck. Both comes with 76L fuel tank. This is my first diesel and also first truck and I was pleasantly surprised that this giant could give me about 13-15km per litre same as my Hybrid Camry. I guess diesel technology had gone a long way from before.

General Motors (GM) which produce Chevy models like Aveo, Cruze and Captiva is located in Eastern Seaboard in Rayong Province, Isuzu is also located in the same area. Isuzu makes only pickup trucks in Thailand. More than 10 years ago GM bought into Isuzu's Thailand business and is now the majority shareholder in Isuzu Thailand. Guess it was a good move as Isuzu is a very profitable business as together with Toyota's Vigo are the two leading brands for pickup trucks. It is commonly known in Thailand that Bangkok people like Toyota puckups while upcountry people prefer Isuzu. By the way all along America is the largest puckup truck market until like 4 years ago Thailand took over that title. Every farmer aspires to own one, one day.

i think the above is for cruiseing non stop at 60km/hr. city driving will never get the above mileage. i barely get 12km/l on my company hiace. of course being auto transmission cause mileage to go down but driving in a stop go stop go traffic condition wont make a big different whether it auto or manual.

the polo i has also claimed 15km/l of petrol but in actual fact, it travel ard 450km on a 42L full tank of shell vpower. even the manual honda jazz i once own can get 17km/L as per the advert only if i on the eco driving. it very taxing to drive ecomony as gear change must spot on, try to avoid braking etc etc...

one of the few reason i prefer honda to other jap brands.

Is the Chevy Avalanche available in Thailand? Very powerful. More roomy too.

ppl buy diesel to save money because distance travel at other countries too vast. but singapore so small also need diesel? epecially range rover diesel could be a 5.5L, since they can afford the $300K-$500K price tag on the vehicle, then why need the saving on the fuel?
