Economic wise, the incident is indeed insignificant. However, taking into consideration the climate and negative sentiment of the public on FT and the fact that the insult was hurled at the majority of the population, it is a totally different ball game. Politically and socially, it could spiral out of control.

The ability to recognize a trivial issue that may be blown out of proportion, set the difference between a great leader and a great technocrat. The leader of a pack must respond swiftly to defend his pack - that is the primary expectation of the pack. Whether the leader thinks the incident is significant or not is not important. As long as the majority of the pack feel strongly against it, the leader must act quickly and wisely, to defuse the tension and hurt caused, in order to maintain respect and loyalty from the pack.
