i have always believe that she is more qualified to be a minister than the other 2 aunties
Indranee is not a cabinet minister and folks were surprised that she is in the group of 16. She is there is act as chair and referee. A role that she plays during GE - all forms and documents for nominations must be cleared by her for all PAP candidates.
His past, why the link between the family and him, his presence at the funeral, etc etc are all unanswered mysteries. Usually when someone is pushed to the front or is favoured there is a link or an act that can be identified but not this chap.

Lee Hsien Loong became Prime Minister in 2004. The same year, Ho Ching became CEO of Temasek Holdings. So this year, Singapore’s power couple celebrate their 14th anniversary as the most powerful man and most powerful woman.
After 14 long years, it seems nothing has changed. They are both snug in their positions, with no sign that either is going away anytime soon.
Even Goh Chok Tong has seemingly grown impatient, setting a New Year’s deadline for PM Lee to designate the next PM within six to nine months, calling it an “urgent challenge.”
Will PM Lee heed the call of Goh Chok Tong? Or will he simply delay it to a time of his own choosing?
As for Ho Ching, there is also no successor in sight after 14 years. Ordinarily, what the wife of the Prime Minister does is none of our business. But since Ho Ching is considered the most powerful woman in Singapore, she is fair game and has to be subject to scrutiny.
Dr Tan Cheng Bock has said that he felt it was “very very dangerous” to have the wife of the PM head such a key institution as Temasek Holdings because there are bound to be conflict of interests. Lee Hsien Yang and Lee Wei Ling have alleged that Ho Ching acted improperly on behalf of the Prime Minister’s Office, without holding an official position.
More than 10 years ago, Temasek Holdings started talking about succession planning, including for the CEO. There was a failed attempt at replacing her with CEO-designate Charles Goodyear back in 2009, who abruptly left after several months. All we got was a terse statement from Chairman S Dhanabalan: “It is with much regret that both Chip and the Board have accepted that it is best not to proceed with the leadership transition. We wish Chip all the best in his future endeavours and are happy that Ho Ching has agreed to continue as Executive Director and CEO.”
The Board, it seems, continues to be happy to this day that Ho Ching “has agreed” to be CEO. A global search was reportedly carried out but it has yielded nothing so far. Are we to believe that after years of searching, nobody in the whole wide world is deemed capable of replacing Ho Ching? Or has the Board stopped looking for a successor altogether? We simply do not have answers to these questions.
And for Goh Chok Tong, the second Prime Minister, to openly call for the leadership issue to be addressed urgently, it raises questions about the mindset and intentions of the current Prime Minister.
For a country previously known for its far-sightedness and succession planning, we are certainly coming up short on two very important counts.
Meanwhile, into their 14th year as Singapore’s power couple, PM Lee and Ho Ching continue to rule the roost. It would be nice to say that Singapore is getting two for the price of one, but in reality both come with a heavy price. It is estimated that with bonuses the annual salary of PM Lee could be around $3 million. As for Ho Ching, it is a closely guarded secret and the sky’s the limit.

And we have a lot of pressing issues: this budget that’s upcoming, there’s jobs, there’s social stuff, fiscal sustainability, so these are the things we are very much focused on.

We must admit, this is the first time we’ve had so much uncertainty over who our next PM will be.
It was clear to the Singaporean public when Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong emerged as front-runner years ahead of being appointed as PM in 1990, and also clear for, well, more than a decade, when current PM Lee Hsien Loong came up as our next leader.
Given the lengthy advance notice, we think it’s reasonable to seek certainty — even ESM Goh himself spoke out quite loudly, and also deliberately, he admits, about this:

But okay, she mentions the upcoming Budget, social issues, fiscal stability, jobs. Ultimately, she remains coy, not saying much in response to the answer to “who” or, well, “why all the hemming and hawing”.
We do think the matter of who Singapore’s next leader will be — especially since we don’t actually have a say in it — is important, especially in deciding all the issues she raised, though.

He seems perfect for the job ! Just as the US deserves to get DT as President, we deserve to get CCS as Prime Minister.
The choice between GCT and TT could be left to the younger generation with less interference simply because it was much less muted in terms of the impact and risk outcomes. The big picture at that time was:
1) Everyone knows LKY is da boss (as in directly in your face, not shadow shogun style) no matter who takes over.
2) Everyone knows it's a seat warmer for LHL.
For this current succession, I'm doubtful of this public narrative of leaving a bunch of youngsters to determine who to appoint as the leader. The PAP is a tight knitted party just like the WP, I sense there is a lot of informal power sharing arrangements within the party beyond official office holders. It seems unlikely that a party with such a history and character would empower a bunch of 16 youngsters (most of whom have limited party grounding) to call the shots on what is arguably the most important decision for the past few decades.
The real power lies in who determines these 16 youngsters and who amongst them puts him/herself up for consideration rather than who these 16 youngsters choose. It's no different from a public company's Board of Directors - theoretically the board members vote among themselves solely on the merits of each resolution, but we all know the real determinant is the tussle between influential shareholders to install their clique members into the seats.
If they choose Halimah as President, they can choose any clown as PM. And a monkey as DPM.

You are saying that CCS is backed by Sham (the law), TCH (the govt payroll master), Lawrence (the PA/CC/RCs) and LHL (the final decision maker). Apparently this group of people formed the mysterious comittees on Oxleygate saga. Birds of the same feather, like that CCS win liao loh because LHL wanted him to keep the Oxley House intact if he became the next PM. Who else but the "Yes-man" CCS more fitting for the job?
