You guys are always the first the cry mother and father in a crisis / economic downturn / recession.

Guess what. The rest of SG is suffering too. People are losing their jobs, businesses are racking up losses. You're not the only one.

Yet, I don't see other sectors or industry cry as much mother and father as you do. I don't see other businesses go onto Facebook and sob and howl and create lame pages asking your fellow Singaporeans to "Save our F&B",

I don't see other business owners lobbying housing agents and insurance agents to help them post messages like "Support our F&B!"

Here's the low down on Singapore's F&B:

(i) The govt has given them the most leeway to hire foreign workers. They are the one sector with the highest ratio of Malaysian and work permit holders employed. From the server all the way up to the head "chef". I put "chef" in inverted commas because more often than not he's just a re-branded hawker. Just like how Hang Flower Joints brand their prostitutes as SINGERS.

(ii) Singaporeans are food lovers and any tom dick and harry F&B will do well in good times if your food is decent enough.

(iii) The govt has committed to providing the maximum wage credit support to the F&B sector -- 75% of salary reimbursement for the next 9 months.

And yet you fellas are howling like fucking kids and asking the whole world for a handout and complaining bitterly that you're being victimized by our local movement control order (aka CCB).

All you fuckers wake up your bloody idea.

a bit harsh la... been observing that only a few do well even in good times. Too much competition nowadays. Most barely surviving. Honestly think that a good percentage are going to go broke despite all the aid. Yeah, I know they got lots of support, but even then I still think their operations simply cannot survive because fixed costs are very high. Hard for me to think of a business group with such precarious situation that is worse hit by this. :notworthy:

edit : by F&B I mean all F&B including hawkers, mamak stalls, etc.. not just those glorified bs hipster shit joints.

Worst, even our cheap instant noodles taste better than those F&B "cuisines" Star buck, cafe and bubble teas are all obscenely priced. I can make instant coffee for 30cts a packet or even invest a coffee maker will save all the money buying junkies from F&B bosses.

I have no love for F&B especially those in the fusion food business. Nothing but glorified Rojak with a glamorous name and a high price tag.
There are many genuine hawkers out there that deserve our patronage.

In deed. We all know where the fix cost goes to so the cheap FT is quid pro quo.

The nice instant noodle all gone now. :frown:

Those small restaurants and cafes set up by entrepreneurial ah bengs are going to suffer.

In fact, some of them are already suffering last year, before the pandemic.

Those F&B bosses are complainers. First they suffered from tightening of foreign Quota and then blamed Sinkies, later they suffered from Foreign levy hike and then blame the govenement. Now...they suffered from pandemic, who are they going to blame? God? KNNBCCB

Need the phua cheebyes pretending to be bleeding badly to shut the fuck up and stop complaining. Case in point is this cheebye kia Daniel Ong.

Ran outta space...continued... In the coming days, if the government decides to have a no dine in rule for restaurants. Or a shut down of any sorts.
It’s truly game over. For the whole industry.
Many have asked me to consider a take away and a online alternative.
Ta pau.
Truth is, we are in the CBD.
Half now work from home.
No workers means no sales. Also it’s difficult running a take away biz in a space that costs 25k. And staff that cost 40k.
Stall holders rents are much lower to make any sense.
But we will try. I owe it to my team to try.
The only way now is if there’s such a measure, that you waive rentals.
Cash flow is severely affected.
Like all businesses now... like hotels...no sales means we can’t even make ends meet. Pay staff. Or suppliers.
We are asking for you to look at us as partners.
Giving us a 2-4K discount on a 25k rent really just delays the inevitable.
On behalf of all small biz owners in all the malls, and cafes, and commercial buildings. And everyone affected in the service and retail space...
Just. Give. Us. A. Chance.
When times are good... we pay GTO. On top of rent... we’ve also paid rentals that have doubled or tripled over the years. It’s a give and take relationship.
Can you be on the other side for once?
I’m pleading.
Coz past this next few weeks... we are all not going to make it.
Defaults at 50% or more.
It’s dire now. And we can’t wait for two weeks for an email reply for you to check with your bosses...we are going down now. Now.

We are in this together. #sgunited #singapore #covid #savefnbsg #struggling #sinking #help #savejobs #save #singaporeans #staff
