It kinda makes me question what's happening at the NEA. How are they, and have they been examining the data they have been collecting? Can we trust their projections for the future? And can we trust any assurances that they are adequately preparing for the future?

This is just one of the indications that we really need our agencies to provide more publicly available information. Hitherto, the public has been trained to accept sanitized proclamations from our public agencies that all is well with the world, and Singapore, and that we should trust only their interpretation of fragmented and cryptic data shown to the public.

The NEA had proposed to widen and increase the flow capacity of the Stamford Canal. The experts are not too keen on this because they know that the actual cause is the Marina Barrage, except that they cannot make it sound too obvious. Otherwise, they may offend the old man as the Marina Barrage is his pet project.

We all know that the down flow from the Stamford Canal eventually leads to the Marina Barrage, together with the Sinkie River. Hence, if the pumps in the Marina Barrage are not sufficient to discharge the tremendous amount of rain water, especially during high tide occasion, definitely by widening the Stamford Canal and the Sinkie River will also not ease the flooding in the Orchard Road areas. Period.
