it's not a joke. the brother and sister of a pinay worker in sillycon valley receive more money from the state after they filed for unemployment than when they had to work in the hospitality and f&b sectors. the state had a surplus of $6.9b year on year under jerry brown and built a cash reserve of $26.9 at the end of his term last year. under newsom this year, it's a deficit already at -$56.9b.
