Ex-restaurant manager fined $20,000 for embezzlement

HE TOLD police he lost the money at a coffee shop in Bukit Batok but when questioned by the cops, Chong Kok Choon, 43, admitted he had misappropriated the $10,200.
In a district court on Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to committing criminal breach of trust and was fined $20,000.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Victor Lim said that Chong was then employed by restaurant operator Paradise Group Holdings and was the manager of Canton Paradise in Katong Mall.
His duties included supervising the staff and to bank in the daily sales collection of the restaurant that serves Cantonese fare.
