Ex-policeman jailed for housebreaking

SINGAPORE: A former staff sergeant at the Central Police Division Headquarters was sentenced to five years' jail for multiple housebreaking offences.

Thirty-three-year-old Mohamed Faisal Mohamed Yusoff was convicted of housebreaking and theft on five counts.

He committed the offences between August 2011 and March 2012.

Court documents stated that he broke into a childcare development centre, a church and residences, and stole items and cash amounting to S$24,400.

Only S$4,100 was recovered.

On each count, Mohamed Faisal could have been jailed up to 14 years and fined.
