Ex-Philip Morris employee charged with cheating

By Elena Chong

A FORMER employee of tobacco company Philip Morris was brought to court on Thursday to face six charges of cheating.

Frankie Chong Kah Poh, 37, then a sales representative, allegedly duped a staff member into believing that two men had ordered between 87 and 610 cartons of cigarettes and induced him to deliver the goods to him.

The sums involved ranged from about $9,000 to $65,000.

The alleged offences took place at the company's premises at Jalan Bukit Merah from May 31 to June 8 2010.

Chong's case was adjourned to Feb 1.

If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine on each charge.
