A FORMER manager of LifeBrandz was jailed six months on Wednesday for misappropriating $14,900. A district court heard that while working for the brand development and management group in 2008, Allan Lim Wee Boon, 32, siphoned the money for himself. LifeBrandz had signed a contract with Gold II Entertainment for Malaysian singer Gary Chaw to perform at the Lunar Bar here on Sept 19, 2008, for a $35,000 fee. Lim was to arrange payment but instead pocketed the $14, 900 initial sum. He told the court that he was in financial difficulties then because he had to repair his wife's car.

He had been driving her car along Pioneer Road North at 5am on August 21, 2008, when it crashed into a traffic light post. Later that day, Lim, who did not have a driving licence, told police that his mother had been driving the car. Lim was jailed two weeks for providing false information to the police. However, this sentence was ordered to run concurrently. He was also fined a total of $2,400 for three traffic offences. This was for driving carelessly, taking his wife's car without her consent and driving without a licence. Lim had made partial repayment of $7,000 to LifeBrandz. He was freed on $14,000 bail until his appeal is heard.
