Everyone looks down on . . . . . .

confirmed that i am being despised, i sent a pre-christmas gatering to all my secondary school friends, and only one reply to me...sad...i am going to bedok reservoir ...:(

Whether mobile phone or iPad, it's a strange phenomena I've observed too, not only in Thailand or Japan but also Singapore and everywhere else. Since young, I was taught to walk with head held high. Some of my girlfriends have even remarked, don't walk like that, that's like looking for a fight.

I made one of my best friends in my life through that too. This gangster guy was my brother's friend but didn't know me. One day he was at a coffeeshop drinking with my brother and saw me passing by, or in his words, swaggering by. He said I wasn't supposed to walk like that in his territory and challenged me to a fight. My brother broke out laughing asked us all to sit around and introduced each other over another round of beer. We became buddies thereafter.

Your best fren is just a stupid sinkie beng. The type that picks fights on ppl for staring at him.

yes Ram i agree with you on this. Too much of heads down in public equates to some loss of general awareness. This can result in accidents.

I have seen some kids cross the main road with their heads down ....texting usually.

They may have the right of way especially when the traffic lights are in their favour but 1 mistake by a driver and they are gone ...all because of loss of awareness.

. To my mentality, it's kind of dangerous to mind my own business in public. I never even sleep on a bus unless long distance above 10 hours. Losing alertness and awareness spells possibility of danger and accident.

hi joe.... i am possibly one of those guys you saw ...my head down cos i owe ah long lots of money.

Not only ah long but banks, relatives, friends you name them...i owe them. :(

No this is not a krafty sad thread about people looking down on him.

Last trip to Singapore and my recent trip to Japan and also because of the flood in Bangkok, I had a chance to travel in trains (MRT, JR etc etc) and buses. When I look around I find it very strange as everyone is looking down, on their mobile of course. I mean its like no one looks around anymore and everyone is in their own world. Things had changed.

hey krafty....dont go yet.

Wait till the downtown line phase 3 completed in 2017. Easier to get to BR then.

What is the point of looking up, having to strain your neck hoping for something?....if lucky enough you might get bird drop into your wide open mouth....:D:D:D...just kidding.

If look down, you might happen on someone diamond ring or a lucky sweep lottery ticket first prize winner.....:):):)..... Just joking.

Not only in Bangkok, I notice that in Singapore's very own MRT trains too. While technology helps bridge distance to bring more people stay in touch within a small time frame, it erodes the personal touch.

Krafty,
1. You got only one reply, what was the reply?
2. Instead of sec sch friends you should send to all SBF member I guarantee sure get more than one reply then you no need to go Bedok reservoir but may change to South China Sea

Whatever it is, it's just a prop to signal, I'm minding my own business. In the old days, reading books on buses were common too. I've never did that. you are:

People with paranoid personality disorder (PPD) have long-term, widespread and unwarranted suspicions that other people are hostile, threatening or demeaning. These beliefs are steadfastly maintained in the absence of any real supporting evidence. The disorder, whose name comes from the Greek word for "madness," is one of ten personality disorders described in the 2000 edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders , (the fourth edition, text revision or DSM-IVTR ), the standard guidebook used by mental health professionals to diagnose mental disorders.

Despite the pervasive suspicions they have of others, patients with PPD are not delusional (except in rare, brief instances brought on by stress ). Most of the time, they are in touch with reality, except for their misinterpretation of others' motives and intentions. PPD patients are not psychotic but their conviction that others are trying to "get them" or humiliate them in some way often leads to hostility and social isolation.
