Many moons have passed since the last GE.
The new Parliament session turned out to be very interesting indeed. There is much talk on the ground about the way some politicians conducted themselves. True leadership was seen. Many issues were brought up and discussed. Even a football team was formed with players from both sides of the Parliament united as one team. A very good start indeed for Singapore.
Singaporeans expect much better debates in future, as they (the voting public) has the final say as to who deserve that seat in Parliament in future and for how many terms.
So please get to work swiftly and settle the many problems that lie ahead. Now is the time to tackle problems associated with needy Singaporeans - those who cannot afford to send their children to school, those whoe breadwinners are in jail, those who cannot afford to pay for their HDB homes, those old folks neglected by their children and roaming our well-paved streets looking for discarded card-box boxes and poking their hands into filthy dustbins in search of an aluminium can, those that stay on the streets as vagabonds and destitutes and those who are a little strong and clean toilets but are paid "peanuts". Remind me of the story of Dick Whittington and the streets of London paved with gold.
You, who are so highly paid, lead such comfortable lives, reside in palatial homes and zoom (or being zoomed) around in expensive cars. All of you who doesn't travel to work in overcrowded buses and MRT trains, surrounded with the body odour of others and those of you that do not eat with our locals at the hawker centres, remember that we Singaporeans are not fools or idiots.
Please look into the interests of these poor people. Give them the help they rightfully need. Show them that you truly care and lift them up from a miserable existence from the streets and pavements of first world Singapore. Provide them with proper welfare homes and medical care. Always remember that these people too have contributed to the success story of Singapore in their own special ways.
A good example is the humble night-soil carrier of yesteryears who contributed to the success of the Nation by carting away the faeces of everyone, including that of successful politicians today. In doing so he helped keep diseases away.
Lead by example and practice what you preach. Instead of asking other organisations like the ST Pocket Money Fund, the Community Chest and other private organisations to assist the people, you start the ball rolling for it is in your court.
For a start, all of you (parliamentarians from both sides) introduce a "Parliamentarians Donation Fund" into which 10% from your pay packet can be channeled. Maintain this fund till the day you leave office or are voted out. It will endear you in the hearts of the suffering masses.
Charity begins at home.

Mr Koh, TALK is EASY. When Bedok Reservoir hv victim again, there will be
Messages again as to where to seek for help.
When u do so, u will be scruntinised to the very bottom of the pit.
Here, welfare/charity is a damn DIRTY word. Many many people hv
lost their job and when they attend job fair, they offer a humilative cleaner. security jobs.
Many many people are living on their savings; which led to
NO SAVINGS at old age......TALK IS EASY.

New PAP = Smart Politics = Your health is your repsonsibility. Don't join if u r unwell.
