I complained about this too. Nearly got killed by a Prius about two years ago. My proposed solution is to either mandate EVs use tyres that are loud (harder rubber compound) or install external speakers to emulate engine rev sounds.

Yes I stand corrected. They're a hybrid. But when they're in batt mode, they're as quiet as an EV.

Yes I should know better But sometimes we get complacent and too set in our ways. We expect cars to make certain sounds so we can hear them coming. Anyway, I have since recalibrated and have changed my ways.
